ON BECOMING A BENUE WIFE.
Never!! I cannot marry an Idoma Man, not with their alekwu wahala, abeg !!! I can’t deal.
That use to me until I met le-boo. I honestly have my reservations about
Idoma/ Benue guys, maybe it was due to the set of Idoma guys I met during my NYSC days. However, when I met hubby, he was different, he ticked
all the right boxes and he smells like forever lo😅😋😍l...
After the whole dating stage, he popped the big
question while I was eating peppered chicken leg on a sofa with some chilled
coca cola, on the first day of the year, can you imagine!!!😂. Anyways, prior to
his proposal he had met my parent and made his intentions known and thereafter
we were to get our parents officially introduced( the first big step) A date was fixed,
and marriage procedures began. First stop, we visited the eldest in the family
somewhere up north to inform him of our intention, also to get his blessings and
consent.
Subsequently, introduction sets in with it’s
buzz of wahala . Anyways, it was beautiful and unique display of culture and
tradition. A long list was expected to be given to my spouse people but since
we were from same LGA I was told that would not be possible as my in-laws to be
already knows what is expected of them . Real drama I must confess. If you
know, you know!! At the end a date was agreed and fixed for the main wedding.
Several month later, controversies about list
sprang up four weeks to the wedding following argument in the family that deed
in families differs. No be small confusion!!! Thereafter, I informed my fiancé who
at the time was not around, about the development, another drama and wahalur…. Nevertheless,
well he got the things he could within the short period of time.
Fast forward!!!The main day (Traditional Marriage). Idoma people at work😁😂..the Koronya dragged for long(koronya is a process of paying the bride price and the other rite) ha it was exhausting, both families kept dragging us as if they are pricing malu in the market😂 I just wanted the whole thing to end, they argued practically about every single thing. You won’t believe. In fact one of the uncle got angry and said he is not interested again!!, ha mogbe 😂😂 my tired was tired and it was just the first leg of the koronya which is the main event before the reception. Time had gone, makeup I have not done, all the outfit I planned on wearing, yepa🙆 hubby was offset because of the dragging from every corner he was tired as well. I remembered one uncle in red was just putting salt in the whole thing like he was sent to ensure the marriage does not take place...Sir shey won ran yin si wa ni, we have already prayed against forces like this nau😅
After all said and done, begging here and
there peace later reigned and everyone settled as if they weren't closed to
given me Bp😓. Sha we survived the Koronya and all the
other rite successfully and by heaven grace we will live happily ever after
.......👪
